The Delay of Tigran Gambaryan’s Bail Decision: A Closer Look

A Nigerian court recently made the decision to postpone the bail application ruling for detained Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan until October 9th. This delay came after arguments were presented by both Gambaryan’s lawyer, Mark Mordi, and the prosecuting counsel, Ekele Iheanacho. The bail application was submitted on September 2nd, citing medical reasons and deteriorating health conditions that Gambaryan is facing.

Gambaryan, who is an American citizen, is reported to be suffering from malaria, pneumonia, tonsillitis, and complications from a herniated disc. These health issues have significantly impacted his ability to walk, prompting his lawyer to request a six-week bail period for him to seek treatment. A viral video showing Gambaryan limping into court has triggered criticism from the crypto community, with many expressing outrage over the Nigerian government’s handling of the situation.

According to a medical report from the State House Annex Clinic in Abuja, Gambaryan allegedly refused prescribed medications and food during his detention. Despite recommendations from a neurosurgeon for medication, physiotherapy, and urgent surgery, Gambaryan expressed dissatisfaction with the treatment provided. He insisted on being transferred to Nizamiye Hospital, leading to his intermittent refusal of prescribed treatment and food.

Critics, including Jeff Roberts, the crypto editor at Fortune Magazine, have condemned the Nigerian government for their treatment of Gambaryan. Roberts stated, “Shame on Nigeria’s government. They took an innocent man hostage in a bid to extort Binance for $10 billion – and are now subjecting him to torture/humiliation.” The situation has sparked widespread outrage and calls for justice for Gambaryan.

Through this delay in the bail decision for Tigran Gambaryan, questions about his health, treatment, and the Nigerian government’s actions have come to light. It is essential to closely monitor this situation and ensure that justice is served for Gambaryan, who is facing serious health challenges while in detention.
